Low carbon Videography & Filmmaking

Being a London based videographer means spending quite a bit of time on the road.  We film our video work all over London but also all over the UK.  As a result we are quite conscious of the impact we have when we’re on the road carrying out our videography work.  Roll on our quest for low carbon Videography.

Reducing our carbon footprint

We’ve been thinking about ways to reduce our carbon footprint for quite some time now.  A few years back we switched our office electricity to a UK based renewable supply.  We’ve recently made another leap in reducing our carbon footprint for our videography work.

Our new electric car

With the technology of electric cars taking a big leap forward over the past few years the ranges have improved hugely.  As a result we decided now wa the time to invest in a low carbon electric vehicle.

We decided to go for the Skoda Enyaq 80 which boasts a range of 331 miles per charge.  With over 300 miles per full charge this means we can easily get to most of our shoots.  Another feature we love about this vehicle is the spacious size that can fit all our camera gear in it.

The impact – Low carbon Videography

We do between 10,000 and 12,000 business miles per year so the impact of transitioning to electric will list definitely be felt.  A lot of the work we have done over the past year has had a focus on climate change and solutions.  With this in mind, we know ur clients will be happy that we are trying to minimise our impact on the planet whilst we’re carrying out their videography work.

Initial thoughts

We’ve now used the vehicle on a few different video jobs and it’s been a smooth transition.  We have a charing pint installed at home so charging up is simple.  Most of our videography work is in London so there is no need to charge whilst on the road.  For our film and video work a bit further afield we know we can easily charge at one of the thousands of charging points across the UK.

We look forward to seeing you all on the road in our new electric vehicle soon.  What kind of carbon saving techniques have you implemented in your business or place of work?
