Adult Community Learning

My shooting schedule over the past couple of weeks has been hectic to say the least. Between planning new projects and working on others this is the first chance I’ve had for a while to update the blog. Last week I spent a couple of days working for Essex County Council shooting a promotional video for their Adult Community learning Centers. They have 15 centers across the county and after spending a couple of days at two of them I could really see how great they they are for people wanting to get back into education. Although I turned up to the shoot with enough lighting kit to shoot the next installment of the Twilight Saga I actually opted to only work with the natural light available. After spending an hour or so walking around the old buildings and getting a feel for the campus, I could really see how the students were enjoying what they were doing and I wanted to capture this in the most natural way possible. Another reason was the buildings were over 100 years old and had these huge beautiful windows all fitted with very thin blinds that diffused the light in the most wonderful way. Armed with nothing more than a couple of reflectors and my camera rig, I had a really enjoyable couple of days capturing the various courses that were on offer and interviewing the staff and students.
